ABOUT 

The Papua New Guinea Hockey Federation (PNGHF) is the governing body for Field Hockey in Papua New Guinea. Headquartered in Port Moresby, the Federation is dedicated to promoting, organizing, and developing the sport for all ages and genders across the country.

  • Development Focus: The PNGHF actively runs grassroots programs, such as the 'Hook in 4 Health' initiative, which uses the sport to promote healthy lifestyles and positive community development, particularly focusing on gender equality and encouraging girls' participation.

  • National Teams: The PNG national teams compete regionally, aiming for success in the Pacific Games and Oceania zonal tournaments, providing a pathway for players to reach international standards.

  • Administration: The Federation works through an Executive Board to ensure sound governance and administration of the sport across its affiliated regional associations.

International & Regional

  • International Hockey Federation (FIH): The PNGHF is a full member of the FIH, the global governing body for field hockey.

  • Oceania Hockey Federation (OHF): The regional body responsible for hockey in Oceania. PNGHF is a key member, which allows them to participate in development programs and regional championships.

  • Papua New Guinea Sports Federation and Olympic Committee (PNGOC): The PNGHF is a recognized National Federation, allowing its athletes and teams to represent Team PNG at multi-sport events.
